In April 2024, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of PLF client George Sheetz, holding that legislatures cannot use the permit process to coerce property owners into paying exorbitant development fees—commonly known as “exactions” or “impact fees.”
By striking down one of the most pervasive regulatory hurdles facing home builders and property owners, the Court’s ruling signaled a promising step toward reversing America’s housing crisis.
Yet in the roughly 18 months since the landmark decision, many local governments seem to have missed the memo—continuing to impose these illegal fines and fees, driving up housing costs and stifling development.
On September 25, we’re hosting a virtual panel discussion highlighting the progress made—and work still to be done—since the Sheetz decision, and we’d love to see you there!
Our panelists will provide an overview of cases we’re actively litigating throughout California, Colorado, Wyoming, and Florida and highlight model policies we’re helping to introduce in state legislatures from coast to coast.
RSVP today to secure your virtual seat—and help spread the word about George Sheetz’s fight and what it means for the future of property rights in America.
NOTE: A recording of the webinar will be sent to all registrants after the event. Feel free to register even if you’re unsure whether you can attend live.
