Challenging Scope of Practice Laws

Across the country, nurse practitioners often face harsh restrictions and costly regulations that make it more difficult for them to do their jobs and provide their communities with desperately needed care. Fortunately, there are efforts underway to challenge these barriers—and you can help. 

Pacific Legal Foundation, the Association of Missouri Nurse Practitioners, and the Missouri Nurses Association invite you to an evening webinar examining how legal action and policy change can achieve meaningful scope-of-practice reform. Missouri nurse practitioner Marcy Markes will share why she filed a lawsuit in August challenging the state’s restrictive collaborative practice law and what her case could mean for nurse practitioners (NPs) nationwide. 

The discussion will place Marcy’s case within the broader national movement toward Full Practice Authority, highlighting where reforms have succeeded, how they improve healthcare access, and how nurse practitioners and advocates can engage constructively in policy and legal efforts at the state level.
