Townhall Meeting: Fighting Race-Based Discrimination in K-12 Education

Tuesday, March 16, 2021
7:00 p.m. EDT - 8:00 p.m. EDT

Virtual via Zoom

On March 10, Pacific Legal Foundation filed our latest lawsuit challenging racial balancing schemes in K-12 education. In this case, PLF represents The Coalition for TJ—a group of parents of past, current, and future students at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax, VA. Thomas Jefferson High School—or “TJ”—is a STEM magnet school and the top public high school in the country.

Race-balancing schemes have included rigged lotteries, classroom quotas, elimination of standardized tests, and—in terms of secondary education—the selective manipulation of feeder schools. Regardless of its form, government’s use of skin color or ethnicity to benefit one group of students over another is unconstitutional and must be stopped.

Join PLF attorneys, clients, and community leaders on March 16 for a Townhall Meeting to discuss our ongoing work to end racial balancing schemes in K-12 education. We’ll brief you on our new case, Coalition for TJ v. Fairfax County School Board, and bring you the latest developments in our other active racial balancing cases: Connecticut Parents Union v. Wentzell, Christa McAuliffe et al. v. de Blasio, and AFEF v. Montgomery County Public Schools.

This open forum provides an opportunity for concerned parents and community leaders to discuss the growing issue of racial balancing in K-12 education and speak with the attorneys challenging these schemes in court.
